Down and Out 03:56
Well I was down. Don’t count me out. You had me wondering baby. Without a doubt. Out in the cold. In the pouring rain. Your toxic smile would drive a man insane. You wore me out like a rag. Baby, fill me up again. You got me hooked. I couldn’t help myself. I wanted you. And nobody else. You chewed me up. And you spit me out. And I was down and out baby. But don’t you count me out. You wore me out like a rag. Baby, fill me up again. Well I was young. Baby, I was blind. I thought our love was the lasting kind. But your heart turned cold, like it’s made of stone. You had me down baby, but baby I have grown. You wore me out like a rag, and you build me up again.

Come on little mama let me bend your ear. I think I got something to say. I’ll tell you all the things that you want to hear but just talk about your style and grace. Style and Grace. Well it’s been kinda lonely out on the road, I miss your warm embrace. You know I can’t wait to get back home and see your beautiful face, yeah yeah yeah. Well it’s been a long time since I’ve been round here. I’m just looking for something to do. I seen a little sparkle hanging in your eye. I’m just trying to get close to you. Close to you. So come on little mama let us waste no time, I know you got that look in your eye. One step ahead with a bottle of wine. Let’s have ourselves a hell of a night. Oh yeah.

I found the that girl I love the most. Headed down to the crystal coast. Her big blue eyes and her long blonde hair. I’d follow that girl anywhere. I’d follow that girl anywhere. Trying to hold us back. Good Lord I might explode. We headed out west, California sun. Two star-crossed lovers stuck on the run. I’m her man and she’s my girl. Gonna shake it up and travel this world. Gonna shake it up and travel this world. Trying to hold us back. Good Lord I might explode. We headed down south, Mexico way. Runnin, laughin, splashin in the waves. Too much tequila and too much sun. We may never leave, it’s too damn fun. We may never leave, it’s too damn fun. Trying to hold us back. Good Lord I might explode. Well we head back east where I was born. Richmond, Virginia is where I’m from. All our friends and family right by my side. Quit foolin around and make her my bride. Quit foolin around and make her my bride. Trying to hold us back. Good Lord I might explode.

I remember when you were young and fear stared you in the eye. You just seemed to brush it off and push it all aside. You were such a pretty girl with the world in your hand. For a girl that had it all, you needed a man . There I was just a dying man looking for a clue. Living life day to day with nothing left to lose. You know I was just acting like just acting like a fool. When it was all said and done all I needed was you. When I first met you, it was a warm June night. I stood there in a crowded bar; the smoke danced off the light. And the band was up on stage just singin their song. That sweet blues music filled the air all night long. When I saw you across the bar you had a teardrop in your eye. Why would such a pretty girl ever need to cry? I picked myself right on up you know I dusted off my shoes. I said he there little thing what’s your name and what gives you the blues?

Well Johnny made his living out of selling cars. He was spending all his money at the local bars. He’s gotta get out of this town. Mary was the girl that held his fancy. She talked like him but looked like Nancy. I can’t imagine just what he found. He said, “Used to spend all my days just waiting for that midnight train. Just to take me anywhere the same. I’m not sure where to go, what I might find or who I know. All I want is for you to come along. I hopped aboard a rail-way car, as a stow-away I didn’t get far. Sheriff come and drag me by my feet. Don’t stop to look at me ‘cuz I’m a haunted man, can’t you see. All I needed was a plan. Well I’m sure that’s it’s been said, you can’t change the world behind a cigarette. But it might just be a place to start. Come on girl and grab my hand we’ll shake it up to wonderland. All I wanted was to be with you. We can go and start a band. Travel the world playing for our fans. It’s only failure if you don’t try. And after all’s been said been said and done, baby get some kicks and maybe have some fun. All I wanted was to be with you. Come on girl just a little a while. You can take my pain and make me smile. I promise I’ll do the same for you. For in the end it’s the people you meet and the chances you take. And it makes it all all worthwhile. Yeah it’s you that makes it all worthwhile.

Walking down the long and lonesome road. Thoughts wondering like the river flows. Walking down the long and lonesome road. Thoughts wondering like the river flows. Your skin becomes fragile and frail as our journey winds down the cold water trail. The journey slowly marches on up this rocky arduous path. The journey slowly marches on up this rocky arduous path. We walk on our souls, the only companions on this drag. South bound pops compass in hand. Getting lost is not what you had planned. Towards the wind like boats tend to sail. As you find your way back to the cold water trail. We are two of the many travelers that have sauntered down this road. We are two of the many travelers that have sauntered down this road. In this we’re not alone, many souls also journey on. On this ground many have walked before and now you’ll be one more. On this ground many have walked before and now you’ll be one more. Beauty hurt in the tale, talking about the cold water trail. South bound pops compass in hand. Getting lost is not what you had planned. Towards the wind like boats tend to sail. As you find your way back to the cold water trail. South bound pops compass in hand. Getting lost is not what you had planned. Towards the wind like boats tend to sail. As you find your way back to the cold water trail.
